Event Details

Family caregivers spend more time searching online than other adults, surveys show. And for the most part, they’re searching for health-related information. But how to tell what’s worth looking at, and what to take seriously?

You don’t have to be a scientist or an expert to be able to flag fake health news or speculation – those are skills that can be developed. Geared towards people helping to take care of loved ones, this program describes librarians’ techniques for detecting bias, spin in reporting, and scam warning signs; go-to websites for finding trustworthy sources of information; and tips for evaluating research findings. Bring your questions and concerns.

Hosted by PlaneTree Health Library’s Executive Director & Librarian, Lise M. Dyckman
