18jun11:00 am12:00 pmAsian Reflection on Community Connection w/ Chopsticks Alley ArtA meditation at ICA featuring an Asian artistic reflection on our understanding of collectivism and community.

Event Details

Join Chopsticks Alley Art and ICA San José for a very special guided meditation within our gallery on Saturday, June 18th at 11am. Participants will be led in a relaxing,1-hour program including a special flute performance, a short introduction on Asian perspectives on community connection, and a group meditation.

In most Asian cultures, collectivism comes naturally. In collectivistic cultures, individuals are seen as embedded within their group identity, and the notion of a separate, autonomous self is deemphasized and discouraged. In this discussion, we will explore ideas on how we could embody these cultural ways to make a positive impact for our community. We will provide mats, but feel free to bring your own. Chairs will be provided as needed.

Featuring:

Thi Cầm, Vietnamese Poet, Flutist

Trami Cron, Author, Exec Artistic Director of Chopsticks Alley Art

Smita Garg, EdD, Arts Educator, Kinder Way Healing
