About this event
Join SVBC and Hellyer County Park to keep Cottonwood Lake free and clear of litter on its shores!
Unlike most of our social rides, this features a community service and volunteer component – litter removal from the natural environment! Anyone is welcome to ride with us, but please note that cleanup volunteers must be vaccinated and boosted to participate. See the language below for full details.
Join us at 9:30 AM at Martial Cottle Park for a 10:00 AM departure. We will ride for about 30-45 minutes before arriving at Hellyer County Park. Expect to spend 2 hours at Hellyer County Park picking up trash around the Cottonwood Lake area. SVBC will provide supervised bike parking while we are working at Cottonwood Lake.
Please bring with you:
– Flat repair (if you have it)
– Water
– Snacks
– Helmet
– Cleanup-appropriate clothing
Hellyer County Park will provide:
– Trash bags
– Litter sticks
– Gloves
– Trash removal
This ride is funded by Santa Clara Valley Water District as part of the Wheels & Waterways ride series .
We look forward to seeing you on April 2nd!

Important COVID-19 update
To protect County personnel, the community members with whom County personnel interact, and all residents of the county, the County will require all County personnel (including volunteers) 12 years of age and older to be fully vaccinated, and up-to-date on boosters for which they are eligible**, subject to limited exceptions. Proof of vaccination status shall be provided onsite at the start of service (via paper vaccination card, a photo of that card, or a digital SMART Health Card issued by the State of California). Vaccination status will not be retained or shared. If you wish to apply for an exemption to this requirement, please contact the volunteer office at volunteer@prk.sccgov.org
**Fully vaccinated means it has been at least 2 weeks since a person has completed the entire recommended series of a COVID-19 vaccine. Up-to-date on boosters means a person is fully vaccinated and has also obtained any booster doses of a COVID-19 vaccination for which they are eligible as authorized or approved by the FDA. Click here for up-to-date information on vaccination and boosters.
