| The CSP represents pathologists in government affairs and provides a voice to legislators and regulatory policy makers. Members work together on all areas that have a potential impact on pathology in California, such as: Reimbursement Clinical lab regulation & licensing State legislation and regulations Third party payer regulation Workers compensation Medi-Cal liaison Medicare carrier relationsCSP represents pathologists at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Some of the more recent issues have been: CLIA Direct Billing of Laboratory Services Point-of-Care Testing Cytology and PAP Smear Proficiency Testing Physician Self-Referral Hospital Employment of Physicians Hospital Based Physician ContractsThe CSP also interacts with other state and national societies such as the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). |
