The eye is the most accessible part of the central nervous system. Noninvasive technologies using nonvisible light sources can now routinely image the structure and vasculature of the retina and the optic nerve at at an amazing 200,000 scans per second. Yaping Joyce Liao, MD, PhD, talks about state-of-the-art ophthalmic imaging, quantification of eye-brain diseases, and measurements of human health.

Yaping Joyce Liao, MD, PhD, is a clinician-scientist who is dedicated to making basic discoveries and improving clinical care and treatment of patients with neuro-ophthalmic conditions (issues that affect vision due to nervous system issues). She serves as the Director of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Service and Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship as well as Co-Director of the Vision Research Training Program.
