Every Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am we will have a volunteering event to maintain our gardens and help educate our community about native plants, ecosystems, and the importance of sustainable agriculture practices in combating climate change.

This Saturday we will be continuing with our Youth Corps training program with more lessons and practice in the two skill sets that we are focusing on this month: 1) planting and propagating and 2) composting. Please note that youth by our definition are any individuals between the ages of 0 and 99 who are eager to learn and interested in CNGF’s mission to create nature-based solutions in the cities where we live. All are welcome!

Site location will be the following:

– ELSEE, 76 Race Street, San Jose

Do feel free to come for any time/duration within those hours that works for your schedule. We will be happy to see you. Also, please do not feel like you need to stay the whole time!

Be sure to dress for gardening, bring a hat and water. If you have your own tools/gloves you are welcome to bring them, as we have a limited supply of clippers and hand trowels.

We are the Center for Urban Sustainability (CUS), the hub for a network of 25 EAT•GROW•LEARN centers throughout Santa Clara County. We have partnered with San Jose Evergreen Community College District Workforce Institute (SJECCD-WI) to create the CUS Center. We are supported by members of our local community who want to solve the climate crisis at home first. We have been developing our skill sets to transform cities for 45 years. Our focus is on education and job creation programs, growing highly nutritious food in small spaces in cities, the rewilding of cities for human health and well being and bringing world scientists together to introduce better methods to meet human life cycle needs in cities, close to where 50% of humans now live. We support land justice, food security, food sovereignty, social justice and new fossil fuel free jobs in our local community.
